Mapping & Spatial Analysis

Dr. Anamosa is well versed in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) data to create thematic maps for land managers.  We can draw upon both public assess data such as aerial photos, USDA Soil Maps, USGS Topographic map, USGS Geology maps as well as spatial data sets to create color coded maps for quantifying slope, aspect-exposure, streams and wildlife setbacks.  We can create vineyard block maps that outline each block and provide labels with block name, variety, rootstock, vine spacing, trellis type, acreage, etc.

All of the soil and land evaluation products will contain several to many maps of the soils physical and chemical characteristics so that the reader can visually see how soil properties change across the landscape to drive the decisions regarding vineyard block design.
